Tips and Hints

Cutting Strips
Before cutting your fabric into strips, make sure you are cutting on straight of grain of the fabric, not just how it is folded on the bolt. Iron out all wrinkles and creases, fold fabric in half and hold by the selvage edge. If the fold does not hang straight, adjust the selvage edge left or right, edge does not need to be even, until hanging straight. Trim edge to straight using the fold. Cut strips using the straight edge and the fold for 90 degree angle.

Piecing Squares
When sewing squares and rectangles together, check for bias edges and whenever possible sew bias and non-bias edges together. When sewing into rows try sewing bias edges together. There will be less stretch and seams will line up better as you sew rows together.
