Tips and Hints
Cutting StripsBefore cutting your fabric into strips, make sure you are cutting on straight of grain of the fabric, not just how it is folded on the bolt. Iron out all wrinkles and creases, fold fabric in half and hold by the selvage edge. If the fold does not hang straight, adjust the selvage edge left or right, edge does not need to be even, until hanging straight. Trim edge to straight using the fold. Cut strips using the straight edge and the fold for 90 degree angle.
Piecing Squares
When piecing blocks, sew the bias edges or the non-bias edges together whenever possible. This will make your blocks more even and stable. It will also make the rows easier to sew together.
